Suffolk recently marked Holocaust Memorial Day and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz with a very moving event at the University of Suffolk, with speakers giving testimony on experiences of the Holocaust in the Roma community, how Suffolk helped to look after Kindertransport refugee children 80 years ago and why the Auschwitz survivor Dora Love inspired a prize at the University of Essex. We were honoured to attend such an important event and take part in the shared act of reflection and commitment. We also spoke about how the Holocaust relates to modern refugee issues on the Belongings show on BBC Radio Suffolk, alongside members of the local Jewish and Roma communities.
