We are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our bid to the Rosa Fund in the UK for Women and Girls for carrying out some vital work regarding Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Suffolk. We know that there are women living in Suffolk who have undergone this barbaric and painful procedure as young girls in their home countries. Our project aims to raise awareness of the risk that this practice could still happen to their young daughters, arm professionals such as social workers, health visitors, teachers and childcare workers with information on how to spot potential cases, train healthcare workers to respond appropriately and to support women and girls who are victims. With potential for the project to grow as other funding is secured, we are very excited to be leading on this in Suffolk.
